The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, led by chief conductor Daniele Gatti, presents a selection of Impressionist and Romantic symphonic works. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s unique sound has been lauded by critics time and time again. Consisting of over 100 musicians from over 25 countries, its string section has been described as “velvety”, its brass “golden”, its woodwinds “distinctly personal”, and the percussion section has an international reputation. The orchestra has benefited from the influence of its chief conductors, of which there have only been seven since the orchestra was founded in 1888. The orchestra has also been conducted by leading composers such as Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss and Igor Stravinsky. It also regularly collaborates with contemporary composers including John Adams, George Benjamin and Tan Dun. To date, the orchestra has made over 1,100 recordings, many of which have won international distinctions. Get your tickets now! 23 Jan 2017, 7.30pm Esplanade Concert Hall
