?Focus on Binder Jetting of Ceramics. ? The process of binder jetting is an additive manufacturing method, sometimes referred as "binder jet 3D printing". This technique is used to create parts by stacking successive layers of material. How it works: - Preparing the powder bed: A thin layer of ceramic powder is spread over the printing platform using a doctor blade or a roller. - Binder jetting: A printing head, similar to that of an inkjet printer, sprays droplets of binder onto the powder in the specific areas where the part has to be formed. The binder acts like a glue, solidifying the powder into a solid structure. The printing head moves according to the instructions in the manufacturing file to form the required geometry. - Lowering the platform: Once the binder has been sprayed, the building platform is lowered by one layer thickness, preparing the machine for the next layer of powder. - Spreading a new layer of powder: A new layer of powder is then spread over the previous layer, and the process is repeated until the object is completely shaped. - Post-treatment: Once printing is completed, the part is surrounded by free powder which is removed and can often be re-used for subsequent prints. The part is then extracted and may require additional post-processing steps to improve its strength, surface finishing or other required properties. This may include heat treatment, infiltration or other processes. #additivemanufacturing #concr3de
