Here&a demo / playthrough / review of my 60W Peavey 6505+ 112 combo through my Mesa Recto 2x12. This thing is a beast! Demo in a Mix 0:26 Thoughts / Review: 4:15 I got my Peavey 6505+ 112 combo six years ago and I love it as much now as the first day I got it. The combo features two channels, 60 watts of all tube power, and way more gain that I know what to do with thanks to five 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 6L6 power tubes. That’s one preamp tube and two power tubes less than the head, but there&definitely still no need for distortion pedals here. The 112 combo comes with a couple of surprises as well. In exchange for the lost valves, Peavey has managed to shove in both spring reverb and their MSDI mic and cab-simulated direct output, both missing from the 120-watt head. While the reverb isn’t anything to write home about, the direct output means you can plug directly into a PA, foregoing the hassle of micing up before a live show. Features are all well and good, but would mean nothing the amp’s sound sucked. Thankfully, this isn’t just a cash-in on the brand. Peavey has produced a combo genuinely worthy of the 6505 badge.
