Bringing back to life a Suzuki GP 125 1982 model from Sweden on a GP 100 1980 model from Norway. This is part one, I intend to do much more to this bike, so check for part 2. Suzuki GP 100 was the last 2-stroke bike to make success in Norway together with the TS100ER in the early 80&It took over after the very popular, but not so reliable GT100. Suzuki GP 100 was restricted to 7 hp in Norway, and a top speed of 80 km/hour. Unrestricted versions have up to 13 hp. In Sweden, the limit of light weight motorcycles was more liberal: 125cc, and even the horsepower was allowed to be 15 horsepower on the GP 125, making it the fastest bike in its class in those days, even faster than the RG 125 twin, according to some motorcycle commentators. The GP 125 differs from the GP 100 sold in Norway in several ways. The Norwegian market got bikes with a more slender petrol tank and alloy wheels with golden color and a square rear light. Both bikes share the same basic construction though. The engine is a 2-stroke single cylinder unit with 5 speed gear box. Whilst the GP100 in Norway had a 6 volt electrical system with breaker points contacts for the ignition, the Swedish version has CDI ignition, as was also the case in most Asian countries. My project uses mostly parts from the GP 125, and so it has chromed spoked wheels and a tank with a lockable lid over the cap.
