In this video, we take a look at a preban Austrian Steyr AUG SA (A1 style, 20" O.D. Green), modern Steyr Arms AUG A3 SA (16" Black), and current production Steyr Arms AUG A3 M1 (16" White). The AUG is a very modular and reliable platform, and also a lot of fun to take to the range. After having handled and fired both extensively, I have to say I feel personally that the AUG A3 is (just) a bit better and more to my liking than the IWI Tavor. Both are nice bullpups, but the AUG just does it for me more. The Armee-Universal-Gewehr (AUG) was officially adopted by the Austrian Bundesheer as the STG.77 in 1978. It was the brainchild of famous designers Horst Wesp, Karl Wagner, and Karl Möser; with development going back as far as the late 1960s. For more information and history, please visit our blog:
