Now and then, people ask me to record a particular item. This time I was asked to play some Purcell. I tuned my Kalsbeek harpsichord after Blanchet, in Valotti for the occasion (and did some small pantomime-kind of acting too). Henry Purcell was born in 1659. He studied wit John Blow. In 1679 he became organist of the Chapel Royal after Blow. In 1683 he was court composer to Charles II and his successors. He died in 1695. more about Purcell: ernst stolz - harpsichord & video watch in high quality: voor Maureen
