Korn, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and Deftones are often cited as the main players during this time, although there are arguments for Slipknot and Deftones especially as to whether they were indeed Nu-Metal or not. Then we have more of what you could call a subset of Nu-Metal artists that lurked in the underground. American Head Charge, Coal Chamber, Static X and Godsmack. They had somewhat of a more industrial and experimental edge to their sound.
