This is my cover of You Don&Mess Around with Jim by Jim Croce. I first took the original song and transcribed all the bass, drums, piano, vocals, and guitar parts. I then re-recorded all those parts and filmed myself as I played and sang them. So everything you see and hear is me. This is the rhythm guitar tab for Jim&Guitar part on the original. Live, Jim played this on the E string only, sliding up the neck for the A and B notes, and playing bar chords. On the original album however, it sounds more like open position chords, so that is what I played. You Don&Mess Around With Jim was written by Jim Croce, and first appeared on his 1973 album of the same name. This video and recording are dedicated to the memory of Jim Croce and Maury Muehleisen. Both men died in a plane crash on September 20, 1973. Jim Croce was 30 years old at the time of his death. Maury Muehleisen was 24. Together they created some of the greatest acoustic music of the 70's. They are gone, but may their music be heard forever.
