Fault Amplifier not powering up. Initial internal inspection confirmed the Amplifier had been worked on and a previous repair attempt had been made. The power input protection fuse was replaced T1.6 Amps, also dry solder joints on the power switch were reflowed. Dry solder joints on the input RCA connectors and interconnecting cable connections from each of the boards to the front tone board reflowed. The balance and head phones sockets were also reflowed, dry joints are very common and always found. The input selection switch was also removed and cleaned with a fibre glass pencil and De-Oxit to remove all oxidisation as shown in the video. Next attention was payed to the main Amplifier board. The bias trimers 2K2 had been replaced and there was a lot of poor solder work on the board. The trimmers were replaced and also the speaker protection relay due to worn and oxidised contacts, all solder joints checked and reflowed as required. Board cleaned with Flux remover. The output transistors on each channel were checked no issue found. With the Amplifier board screwed back to the chassis and rear back panel fitted and the speaker terminal screws. The above must be done before powering up the Amplifier as the common ground connection needs to be made, failure to do so will result in the destruction of multiple components in the output stages.
