Aghtamar Akhtamar Աղթամար Ախթամար Ахтамар

Aghtamar Island hosts the unique Sourb Khach (Holy Cross) Cathedral (10th century) that is considered to be one of the most beautiful monuments of the Armenian (as well as world) religious architecture. It is covered with magnificent Biblical relieves outside and frescoes inside. On September 19, 2010 Sunday Liturgy was held in Sourb Khach, now as an Armenian Apostolic Church in service, first time after a century in Historical Western Armenia.
