Знаменитые любовники: истории любви
I met Cecilia when she made her debut with the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York. I played flute in the orchestra. At the break in the first rehearsal she had with us, I found her hanging out with the musicians & pulled her aside & told her that she was absolutely amazing, a great, great musician & at the very pinnacle of all the singers I&ever heard. That summer she came with the orchestra (along with her lovely mother) to Tokyo. I&run into them on the way to & from the hotel & the supermarkets, & we&always stop & chat. She was going to sing a recital at Bunkamura Hall, but I believe it was sold out. I told her that I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to hear it. She then invited me to the dress rehearsal! That afternoon I felt like the luckiest person in the world. I was alone there listening to her & the pianist perform the whole recital & encores, full voice! In the next year or so, she invited me to two dress rehearsals at Carnegie Hall, one with Levine & the Met Orchestra & the other with Marriner & St. Martin in the Fields. Since then I have bought virtually all of her new releases, CDs & DVDs, the most recent being Bellini’s Norma. I strangely am proud of her as I have watched her grow ever greater. I am blessed to know her.
