Narcissus Sir Winston Churchill is a fragrant narcissus, with a medium strong fragrance and it is a indeed a beautifully scented double daffodil (group 4 of the daffodil classification), with floral and sweet notes. It was registered in 1966 and it is a "sport" (a mutated form) of Narcissus Geranium, one of the most amazingly scented tazetta daffodils. It produces up to 4 flowers per stem, up to 6 cm across, with tepals and petaloids (the extra tepals) white, while the corona and the extra-segments derived from the corona are yellow. The flower has quite a "messy" and "untidy" appearance in my opinion, as the extra-tepals are spread all over the place rather than being organized in the central area of the flower such as in Primrose Beauty or Yellow Cheerfulness, but the fragrance of Sir Winston Churchill definitely makes up for this untidy appearance of the flower (unfortunately both Primrose Beauty and Yellow Cheerfulness, even if showing more elegant flowers than Winston Churchill, don&have much of a fragrance). As usual for daffodils, the bulbs need to be planted in autumn in well drained soil, and the plant thrives in full sun or at least partial shade. In summer the foliage dies down and bulbs can either be lifted and divided, or left in place keeping them as dry as possible.
