Learn how to build a zero clearance table saw insert for your table saw. In this video, I will build a zero clearance table saw insert for my Dewalt table saw. Building a custom throat plate for your table saw can help you rip very thin material on the table saw. I decided to build this custom throat plate because I was having trouble with my table saw getting clogged with cut-offs that kept getting collected by my dust collection system. With a table saw insert that is zero clearance you can greatly minimize any chance that a cut-off will get collected in your dust collection system. Also, with a custom table saw insert there is far more material supporting your board as it passes over the blade. I have found working with a zero clearance insert on my Dewalt table saw very helpful with a number of projects. This zero clearance insert can be created for use on a wide variety of table saws, I currently house mine on a Dewalt dwe7480 jobsite table saw. In this video, I will also detail how I built a wooden locking mechanism that replicates the Dewalt locking mechanism on the stock insert. The locking mechanism design that I use here may be used on different table saws as well. I will also include leveling screws which are highly important for a table saw insert and for cutting accuracy.
