The Maya gun modeling tutorial series focuses on hard surface modeling techniques in Maya 2015. In this final modeling video, I focus on creating an extremely high resolution model - I discuss subdividing models to get the proper level of detail, applying bevels to create a realistic manufactured look, and insetting complicated detail into existing models. Prop artists are a growing segment of the 3D art industry. As games and films become bigger and bigger productions, more and more realistically detailed models like guns are needed! This video shows you the level of quality you&need to hit, and how to get there. High resolution hard surface models like this gun are used in film fx, but the high res model can also be used to generate normal maps for use in game - in that case, all you&need to do is create a low res version with UVs, and bake the high res model down!
