Here is a quick way to disconnect the shunt which controls the smart alternator output. When running dual batteries the smart alternator of the Nissan Y62 Patrol sometimes does not produce enough voltage to charge both up. Some dual battery systems won’t allow voltage to flow to the second battery if the voltage is below 13.2V. The negative terminal has a shunt which measures the battery voltage and controls how much the alternator puts out, by disconnecting it the alternator puts out about 14.2V most of the time.
