The Rainger FX Dr. Freakenstein Chop Fuzz is clearly the work of a madman. From the freakin&fully functioning knife switch and glowing eyeball input meter on top of the enclosure, to the full-on fuzz assault within, the Chop Fuzz is not for guitarists lacking in fortitude. But then fortune favors the bold, as they say, so let&flush caution down the crapper and get weird with this monster. Venturing far beyond the range of a standard buzz box, the good Dr. melds its molten distortion tones with an extreme, in-your-face modulation circuit AND an unforgiving square wave tremolo (hence the "Chop"). These circuits can be switched in and out individually and controlled via the Rainger FX Igor Expression Pad, or with the on board LFO and Chop rate knobs when Igor is not plugged in. When using just the fuzz, its tone can be dramatically sculpted with the Overtone control, which dials in additional harmonics to highlight the most mellifluous frequency ranges, from low and sludgy to a sound that will sizzle and slice through the densest mix. In this video I&demonstrating the Dr. Freakenstein Chop Fuzz with baritone guitar, an ideal pairing that highlights the Chopper&massive sonic girth and extended frequency range.
