Introduction to Quick Step Timber flooring with Stuart Budge This first video in our online training series offers a basic introduction to the Quick-Step Timber flooring range. Stuart talks about the 3 different styles that are available (1strip, 2strip and 3strip), then explains the 3 layers which comprise an engineered timber floor and finishes with a short explanation of the manufacturing process. 1. engineered timber flooring 1.1. stays flat on the floor immediately after installation 2. 3 layers of engineered timber 2.1. top layer 2.2. core layer 2.3. base layer 3. 3 styles of engineered timber flooring 3.1. 3-strip 3.1.1. 3 strips wide on each board 3.1.2. Shorter pieces to make it look like smaller block parquet design 3.2. 2-strip 3.2.1. 2 strips wide on each board 3.2.2. Individual staves or pieces are longer than in 3-strip to simulate a more traditional floor board appearance 3.3. 1-strip 3.3.1. Most poluar style 3.3.2. 1-strip wide and full length board 4. Timber board breakdown 4.1. 3 layers 4.1.1. 3-4 mm top layer - sustainably, managed & harvested hardwood species from all over the world 4.1.2. 8-9 mm hardwood core - because it offers fantastic dimensional stability and adds to indentation resistance of the overall product - because it is the most environmentally friendly hardwood known on the planet The timber used for the core is called Hevea Brasiliensis also known as rubber wood, harvested throughout Southeast Asia for Latex production.
