Taramasalata is a delicious dip made using fish roe. This taramasalata recipe uses easy-to-find and cheap ingredients! Ingredients 100 g (3½ oz) fish roe, e.g cod roe 100 g (3½ oz) sliced bread, crusts removed 125 ml (4 fl oz) olive oil 1 very small onion, chopped Juice of 2 lemons A few drops of pink or red food colouring (optional) Instructions Place all the ingredients except the olive oil in a food processor and whizz to a paste. Continue whizzing and drizzle in the olive oil. Finally, add the food colouring if using. Place the taramasalata in a bowl and allow to chill in the fridge for a few hours. Titli&Tips Taramasalata is traditionally made using smoked mullet roe. Depending on where you live this can be both hard to find and/or expensive. Don&be ashamed to use cheaper alternatives such as cod roe. This makes a nice dip for pita bread. I have recipe here
