The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Original Soundtrack Collector&Edition Title: From Past to Present Released On: November 11, 2011 Composed By: Jeremy Soule Arranged By: Jeremy Soule, Todd Howard, Mark Lampert Published By: Bethesda Softworks Skyrim&music was composed by Jeremy Soule, who also composed the music for both Oblivion and Morrowind. Skyrim features a fully orchestrated, original score, similar to Oblivion. Creative director Todd Howard envisioned the theme for Skyrim as The Elder Scrolls theme sung by a choir of barbarians. This became a reality when the idea was passed by Soule, who recorded the 30-man choir and layered three separate recordings to create the effect of 90 voices. The language, Draconic, was created by Bethesda&concept artist Adam Adamowicz, and he developed a 34-character runic alphabet for the game. The lexicon of Draconic was expanded as needed; as lead designer Bruce Nesmith explained, words were introduced to the lexicon "every time [the studio wanted] to say something". Skyrim&soundtrack was nominated by the British Academy of Film & Television Arts for Best Score in the Game Music Category, but was beaten by L.A. Noire. The main theme, Dragonborn was also nominated by Game Audio Network Guild for Music of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack Album. The soundtrack has strong similarities with previous games in the series, including the main theme. The Skyrim theme has been released and its lyrics are written in the language of the dragons.
