#french Mandoline is from the song cycle “Cinq Melodies de Venise" Op. 58, No. 1(1891) by Gabriel Faure (1845-1924). The lyrics of those five songs were written by Paul Verlaine. And he composed this song in May, 1891 in Venice, Italy. Faure is one of the foremost French composers of his generation. He studied piano with Camille Saint-Saens, who introduced him to the music of Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner. Most of all, Faure is famous for his sensitive and exquisite song writing. It is notable that he composed more than 100 songs in addition to other genres of music. Jung-A Lee studied at Yale University, Boston University, and Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, and received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University. And in addition to serving on the faculties of Vanguard University and Biola University she has given recitals in churches and concert halls all over the world including Italy, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Hungary, Slovakia, Canada, China, and South Korea.
