Россия в дореволюционных фотографиях Усадьба «Mихайловское» Московская область, Подольский район 1893-1915 Russia in pre-revolutionary photographs "Mikhailovskoye" Manor Podolsky district, Moscow region 1893-1915 Music: From works for the piano by V. Kalinnikov. On the outskirts of the suburban village of Shishkin forest, in Moscow Oblast amnd set behind an unsightly concrete fence, is a large park, in the depths of which, surrounded by moss covered century-old linden trees, stands an old manor house.... the manor of "Mikhailovskoye&once owned by the princely Sheremetev family. The original mansion was built by Count Mikhail Krechetnikov (1729–1793), a prominent figure in the reign of Catherine the Great on the banks of the River Pakhra. The layout of the brick two-storey manor house with a basement and a mezzanine was characteristic of its time. On the top floor there was a suite of oval shaped front rooms, and in the centre, a round two-light hall . Upon his death, having no heirs, the mansion lay empty. During the invasion of Russia by Napoleon, the mansion was inhabited by the French in 1812... In 1826 the estate was inherited by S. V. Sheremetev and he lived here with his family until his death. Although at first glance the main house seems in a state of great disrepair, there have been some basic restoration works. Namely modern white double-glazed windows ( although partially destroyed by vandals) and in parts the roof has been repaired.
