1991 Harley Davidson 1340 FXR Lowrider Custom. Where do I start with this one?.. This bike has been a build obsession of mine for the past 5 years. I bought it in April 2018 as a fairly standard but a bit tired looking FXR LRC. It sat in my garage for about six months then I started to think it needs a tidy up. Well, because I’m a perfectionist, a tidy up led to a complete bare frame strip down and rebuild. The engine, gearbox and primary were sent off to Jim Norman at Milwaukee Muscle to be blasted, painted and for a complete strip down, at a cost of £5800. I know I could have put an S&S in there cheaper and easier but to me, it wouldn’t be a proper FXR! The Engine, Primary, and Gearbox were completely stripped and vapour blasted. Everything was inspected, measured, balanced and replaced if needed. Heads stage one ported with four angle valve seats. Reshaped chambers. Andrews 45 cam. Adjustable push rods. Rebored +.010” with new pistons. Balanced crank and rods. New bearings rollers and races. Steel breather. Squish set, cylinders decked, ring gap set. Transmission rebuilt with Billet trap door, new seals and bearings. A brand new old stock Primary with new bearings and seals. Dyna S ignition with mechanical advance unit. Cometic and James gaskets. Cylinders wrinkle black. All new nuts and bolts used on reassembly. The list was endless and I’m sure I’ve probably forgotten stuff.
