Millions of would-be immigrants who passed through the immigration station on Ellis Island in New York City’s harbour searched for opportunity to begin a new life in their new homeland but they had to meet legal requirement. The Statue of Liberty depicts a woman wearing a crown with seven rays in a loose-fitting robe with a torch in her right hand and a tablet reading “July 4th, 1776” in her left hand. You can see a life-size replica of the statue’s face and foot in the museum inside the statue. Additional information.
