How To Cook Apple Pie

Best thanksgiving desert for your family. Recipe: Crust: 2 cups of vanilla wafers, 1 stick of butter(1/2) cup, 1/3 cup sugar. 1. Place all ingredients into a bowl. 2. Stir together with a fork until large crumbs appear. 3. Carefully, press evenly into a deep dish pie crust. 4. Freeze for 20 minutes. Filling: 4 medium apples, 3 T water, 2 T butter, 1 t cinnamon, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 T + 1 t cornstarch, 2 T water. 1. Peel, core and slice apples. 2. Melt butter and cinnamon over medium heat. 3. Stir in apples, sugar & 3 T water. 4. Cover and cook stirring occasionally for 4-6 minutes or until very slightly softened. 5. In a small dish combine cornstarch and water. Add to pan while stirring and continue to cook until apples are soft (not mushy) and filling is thickened. Let bubble 1 minute. Cool. Crumble: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1 cup flour, 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1 T granulated sugar. 1. In medium bowl, use pastry blender or fingers to mix butter, flour and the brown sugar until a crumble forms. Sprinkle evenly over the top of pie. Sprinkle sugar on top.
