The LEGO Technic 8043 Motorized Excavator is the single greatest set of all time, and for many good reasons! First of all, it was the first one to introduce a fully remotely controlled gearbox! Second, it had a ton of advanced mechanims besides the gearbox, such as having two independent motions pass through the center of a single turntable. Third, it digs incredibly well.
