Edvard Grieg: Allegro moderato - No. 5 from Poetiske Tonebilder Op.3

This is one of a set of six pieces Grieg wrote in 1863, the year after he finished his studies at the Leipzig Conservatory. This Poetic Tone-Picture has appeared in the ABRSM Grade 6 piano syllabus. When I was a teenager I used to play from a &Album&that contained (only) the first four pieces in the set, and it was only by trying to find the piece listed by ABRSM that I realised that there were more than four pieces. I had the other two in a different book without realising it. If you were playing this in an exam, you probably wouldn&do the repeat in the middle section, although as it is quite short you could possibly choose to - but don&take my advice on that!
