A Mighty Fortress--Charles Ore   Long before Isaac Watts began to Christianize the Psalms, Martin Luther had already done so when he created the text and tune for this famous hymn, based on Psalm 46.  There is speculation that this psalm paraphrase was written in 1527 when Martin Luther’s friend was burned at the stake or in 1529, when Lutheran German princes protested the revocation of their liberties.  Charles Ore gives the stately hymn a new twist with this rhythmic, fun setting.
