Somnus - Final Fantasy XV Piano Cover (Yoko Shimomura)

Year: 2018 I still to do this day can&fathom how Yoko Shimomura has conjured up such a complex, deep, dark, and beautiful melody. The title of this piece is Somnus, the character of "sleep" in Greek mythology. However, despite this piece&seeming peaceful title, the stillness in this composition is challenged by some deep and strong themes. I&always thought of this piece as an ode to grief and loss. I feel as humans, we attempt to mask loss and grief and push these valid feelings away, instead of sitting with the emotions and letting them sit. In this recording (which was honestly one of at least twenty attempts), I try my best to capture this piece&"struggle" to push away melody after melody. Looking forward to collaborating with others.
