Gerard Morin Replication, AC sine or DC square? Or both?

Looking at the output of Gerard Morin&original experiment, we see un-characteristic wave form patterns. AC changing to DC in front of my eyes with no rectification. We look at the waveform on an scope to try and understand exactly what is happening and why? I¬ expert just someone interested in radiant energy, so if you have some insight please weigh in.
