История строительства Александровской колонны. Here I present an illustrated history of the construction of the Alexander Column, Palace square, St. Petersburg. The monument was erected after the Russian victory over Napoleon and is named for Emperor Alexander I of Russia, who reigned from 1801-1825. The album contains descriptions, plans & engravings made by the Column&French born architect, Auguste Ricard de Montferrand between 1829 & 1834. The monument is the tallest of its kind in the world and is topped with a statue of an angel holding a cross. The column was made from a single piece of red granite.
