Geogenanthus ciliatus or geo plant is a flowering species from the Commelinaceae family. Geogenanthus Ciliatus is native to the South American tropical rainforests of Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador. It is known for its glossy dark purple or green foliage and thick, waxy leaves stand out from all other houseplants. As it grows and thrives, you’ll notice shiny dark purple leaves that appear almost black. it may even produce small odorless purple flowers. Geo plant leaves can grow to be over eight inches long and the plant itself can stretch to over 24 inches wide. Geo plants cannot tolerate direct sunlight. As a groundcover rainforest plant, they’re used to low light conditions under the shade of higher plants and trees. Partial or indirect natural light is the way to go with this beautiful houseplant to avoid severe sunburn. Geogenanthus ciliatus plants are known for being easy to care for. They do have requirements but they are simple. Geogenanthus Ciliatus is a thirsty plant. Its waxy leaves retain moisture, but don’t like to be drenched. When watering, make sure to pour around the plant to protect from fungus growth.
