Pre 2011 Honda GX390 Electric Starter Install-Read Description

I installed a kit designed for the pre 2011 GX390. Apparently the flywheel in this kit isn&keyed at the proper angle to work in the post 2011 GX390. Any model engine that this kit is designed for that was built after 2011 will not run with this kit installed because of the flywheel timing issue. My engine was manufactured before 2011. For some reason the starter isn&machined to fit the existing knock out opening but by removing a small amount of aluminum engine casting it&fit just fine. I ordered a 65mm (2-9/16") hole saw to open the casting up to the proper size but I wasn&patient enough to wait for it to arrive so I used my 2-1/2" hole saw and a Dremel tool with a burr bit. Just takes a little patience. None of the bolt holes in the engine casting were tapped out for the fasteners that came in the kit so in the video is a picture of the tap size you will need. The kit was great and had all the necessary hardware. The only thing that was missing were instructions and a wiring diagram. The kit I received didn&use the same color codes as any of the ones illustrated on the net so I had to open up the switch housing and with a meter, figure it out on my own. In my kit the small red wire went to the charging coil and the short yellow wire with the ring terminal went to ground.
