He is an ethnic Chechen. Taisumov fights out of Vienna, Austria and trains at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. Taisumov started his sporting career as a soccer player. However, he soon realized that fighting was his true passion and so he devoted himself completely to martial arts. Taisumov made his professional MMA debut in 2007.
