Mysterious Motifs
To continue my quest in finding a suitable fuzz, I ordered a couple more pedals after I was not too impressed with the first candidates (see my previous video). Tl;dr, I&keeping the DOD. For my opinions, continue reading: Big Muff OpAmp: nice and smooth. Simple interface and I particularly enjoyed turning the tone knob off. It produced some unpleasant artifacts that I think came from hitting the strings. I think this was my second favourite pedal. Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker: sounded much alike the OpAmp, only less smooth, but not necessarily in a bad way. I liked the sound of turning the tone knob up with the wicker on, however this introduced a loud hiss by introducing a lot of high frequency content. I had the same issues with artifacts as with the OpAmp. Other sounds were just so so. Bass Big Muff Pi: I liked the added functionaly of the switch by being able to select between normal, dry (emphasizing your natural bass signal) and bass boost. I also appreciate the added ability to split dry and effects signal, though it wouldn&serve me. This pedal tracked the low notes a little better than the other EHX pedals, though just slightly. Overall, I really had to work to get a nice sound out of it. It was there, but all other sounds were just so so. DOD Carcosa Fuzz: This was my favourite of the shootout. It was a bit finicky to find out how this pedal functions, but once I did I was able to find some cool sounds. I also appreciate the aesthetics, though that is a minor...
