Rockstar released a new patch on 17/07/2019 (or 07/17/2019 for the Americans out there). This patch requires you to install Rockstar Games Launcher to play GTA 5. Rockstar Games Launcher does not work on Linux. GTA 5 previous worked perfectly on linux via steam and proton. This video describes a fix to work around this problem. Symptoms of problem; After patch you see this error message; Error Unable to locate the Rockstar Games Launcher, please verify your game data. ---------------- Purpose of Video ---------------- Make GTA5 work on linux like it used to before the 17th September 2019 patch that includes the new Rockstar windows games launcher. Resources Used; Misc suggestions and guidlines to follow My Google drive shared folder with mod zip file in it (in case other sources go down). ------- Problem ------- 1. You updated GTA5 on linux on (or after) 17th September 2019 2. GTA5 no longer works because Rockstar Games&new games launcher doesn&work on Linux which GTA5 now needs to run. 3. You were happy because it all worked perfectly on Steamplay via proton 4.2-9. 4. Now you are sad because Rockstar went and ruined your fun. -------- Solution -------- 1.
