Senator Mike Braun answers the question "What would you suggest to help the school system provide opportunities for students aspiring to go into apprenticeship programs and trade schools?" at Indiana Town Halls&October 7th, 2021 town Hall. Indiana Town Halls (ITH) is a start-up nonpartisan non-profit whose mission is to empower citizen engagement in democracy through moderated, civil two-way listening and learning conversations between an inclusive cross-section of citizens and their candidates and Members of Congress. Our organization aims to create a unique Indiana the Town Hall model that combines new era media technology with traditional civic engagement tools to restore trust between politicians and citizens and bring greater transparency, accountability, and citizen participation to our political process. ITH aims to create and popularize this technology-enhanced model to respond to threats to participatory, representative democracy and the loss of trust in Congress. The inspiration for the Indiana Town Hall model comes from the success of the well-attended, State Legislator Town Halls organized by State Senator John Ruckelshaus, Representative Ed DeLaney, and Representative Carey Hamilton. They have proven that well-led, civil, and deeply substantive town halls can be enthusiastically embraced by citizens and lawmakers alike.
