Toyota has given the Sienna minivan a complete redesign for the 2021 model year that makes the aggressive-looking family hauler look even more aggressive. It comes in either front- or all-wheel drive configurations, and unlike previous versions, the Sienna is only offered with a new hybrid powertrain—a move that Toyota says is in response to buyers who wanted better fuel economy and instantaneous torque. The 2021 Sienna starts at $35,635 and reaches just over $50,000 for the all-wheel-drive Platinum model. A 245-hp 2.5-liter inline-four paired with two electric motors powers the new minivan. The 2021 model is nearly a second slower to 60 mph than the previous model with its 296-hp V-6, but it has significantly better EPA-rated fuel economy at 36 mpg, compared to 21 mpg for the front-wheel-drive 2020 Sienna. The 2021 Sienna comes standard with front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available, which adds another electric motor at the rear. The Sienna&$35,635 starting price is for the base front-wheel-drive LE model (the standard L on the 2020 model is no longer offered), which comes equipped with the stowable middle seat. Upgrade to all-wheel drive, and the price rises to $37,635.
