Synth Stuff Ep. 68 - Korg R3

Remember when Korg squeezed the MS2000 into a small package and called it the MicroKorg? Well, they kinda did the same thing to the Radias and shrunk it down to the R3. What&cool is that the R3 can also load Microkorg patches. So why did the R3 die while the Microkorg lives on? That&all up for debate. Anyway, like the Radias and many other digital Korg synths, the R3 just has that glossy, polished, Korg-ness to it. Many of the sounds reek of awful early 2000&techno but there are some gems to found and editing is, I would say, just slightly easier than it is on the MicroKorg. There are Radias patches available, but this thing does cut the polyphony which really drags on the dual-timbre patches. Still a cool synth with a cool look, and it seems rather forgotten these days.
