Dr Mario is a Tetris-esque puzzle game developed and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, NESFamicom and for Arcades in 1990. In the game, players destroy viruses in a bottle by dropping different colored pills onto the different colored viruses, with matches of 4 or more eliminating the virus. Combos can be scored, and many pills come in double colors, being half-blue and half-yellow for example. The levels become more advance as the game goes on, with more viruses added per level. Like Tetris, blocking the bottle neck will result in a game over. Players can choose their difficulty level at the start of the game, as well as their prefered song to listen to. For console versions, a multiplayer mode is also available. Dr. Mario went on to be a very popular franchise, having recieved several ports and sequels, including the recently shut-down Dr. Mario game for iOS and Android phones. The version shown here is the Game Boy version as played on a Super Nintendo via the Super Game Boy adapter.
