Volvo XC90 2023

2023 Volvo XC90 trims have new names. Core, Plus, and Ultimate replace Momentum and Inscription. Volvo replaced its gas-only T5 and T6 engines with mild-hybrid B5 and B6 four-cylinder turbos. Volvo adds Bright Dusk, Platinum Grey, and Silver Dawn metallic exterior colors and removes six others. Bright and Dark exterior treatments replace chrome and shiny trim with high-gloss black. A new Core-only Climate package adds a heated steering wheel, rear seats, and headlamp cleaning system. A new Ultimate Lounge package adds massaging front seat backrests and a Nubuck-like headliner. Harman Kardon audio, head-up display, 20-inch wheels for Core, 21-inch wheels for Plus are new à la carte options. Performance and Engine Volvo electrified the XC90&powertrain to increase efficiency. A fully electric XC90 doesn&exist yet, but the Core base model has a 48-volt electric motor and 2.0-liter turbocharged engine for 247 horsepower. The B6 engine, optional on Plus and standard on Ultimate, produces 295 hp. The 455-hp T8 plug-in-hybrid XC90 Recharge is the most powerful and efficient with 66 MPGe. All XC90 models come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.  Payload and Towing Not every XC90 can tow 5000 pounds. The 295-hp B6 and PHEV can draw that much, while the Core 247-hp B5 can pull 4000 pounds. It&the powertrain that determines these ratings, not whether you have seven or six passengers.
