The next-generation Hyundai Tucson is already available to order in Europe and South Korea, and now it is launched in China. The China version gets a special long-wheelbase version detailed here. While the old-gen Tucson for China used to be markedly different in design from its international version, the new one is much closer to the U.S. spec. Among other things, it is exactly 4,670 mm (15.32 ft.) long with 2,755 mm (9.04 ft.) between the axles. The interior is nothing like that, however. There is a 10.4-inch vertical infotainment screen surrounded by hardware buttons. Baidu 3.0 fills the function of operating system and comes with numerous domestic services. The HVAC only covers a single zone. The powertrain is also new. Powering the Tucson L is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine capable of 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW) and 253 Nm (187 lb-ft) of torque. Hyundai caps this engine model to 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) on all other markets, or otherwise offers it as part of a hybrid system. The Chinese engine is non-hybridized and uses a seven-speed DCT to drive the front axle. Hyundai promises to make AWD available later. Prices start from the equivalent of U.S. $25,000. It does not look like the model will drop in value anytime soon: those willing to save already have the $20,000 Hyundai ix35 option available.
