Actually really easy, I managed to do this in my first try shockingly enough. The strat to fight Griffon is the same as it was in my original run. Lure the tracer to the center of the ship, quickly destroy it, then lure griffon on top of the captain's room door. Get on top of the highest part of the ship, have ebony and ivory ready then blast him down and then when he's finishing up his attack he'll start to fly up, do air slash to do some serious damage and then lure him again, it'll loop the pattern!
