"Beni Maiko" translates to "red haired dancing girl". The Acer Palmatum Beni Maiko is a bushy dwarf maple, which will eventually grows to 1.5 meter / 6ft in height, with a similar width. (see the care of ) The Acer Palmatum Beni Maiko produces vibrant fire-red coloured leaves in the early spring with red veins, the fiery red changes to a pinkish-red with green undertones and the main veins remain red. The leaves begin in appearance to be lighter and more feathery in texture. In the autumn the green undertones gradually come through and the red disappears. The Leaves are pale green with white and pink edges, similar to the Acer Palmatum Beni Shichihenge. The leaves have 5 fingers and have a crinkled appearance. It has an olive green bark with pale green rings and speckles, the older branches are also green, which turn brown and red towards the leaf clusters. The Beni Maiko is striking in the sun, an excellent addition to any garden.
