How to Find and Remove the ELV Steering Lock Module in a Porsche Cayenne (2004 to 2009 955 & 957)

Today, we are going to remove the steering lock module from a 2008 Porsche Cayenne. Fortunately, this technique will work on Porsche Cayennes from 2004 to 2009! The removal will be done with simple tools, such as T20 torx driver, ratchet and a flat screwdriver. In the case discussed in the video, the steering lock module still works. However, in some cases when circuits or the motor fail, the steering wheel will lock up and prevent spinning or turning. Fortunately, Specialized ECU Repair can show how to resolve this issue without dropping the entire steering column out of the vehicle. The first step is to remove the lower panel in the vehicle near the pedals and put it aside. Next, remove the diffusor for the air conditioning using a torx driver. You should now be able to see the ELV module. Afterwards, remove the driver&side side panels on both sides of the steering wheel, using a wedge if necessary. Some models may have more or less depending on year, but in this case, the 2008 has five. Remove the dimmer switch and headlight connectors, then take the bolts off to completely remove the panel. Take the screws holding the aluminum bracket out so that you can move the bracket out of the way (note it cannot be removed entirely).
