Drawing from the elegant lines and garments of Persian Saffavid miniature paintings, this choreography by Laurel VIctoria Gray is set to a song by the popular Iranian singer, Hayedeh. The skillful manipulation of flowing silk veils typifies Azeri dance. Both the Saffavi and Qajar dynasties had Azeri roots.
