His Jeux d&(literally translated as "Games of Water") is dedicated to his teacher Gabriel Fauré and inspired by Franz Liszt&Les jeux d&à la Villa d&Much like Ravel&Ondine from Gaspard de la nuit, there is a constant reference to the never ending movement of water, in at least one of the two hands. Ravel wrote the following excerpt by Henri de Régnier&Cité des eaux in his manuscript: Dieu fluvial riant de l&qui le chatouille..." which means something like "A river god, laughing at the water that tickles him". Tickling is exactly what the pianist does here, although there is more concentration and precision required to maintain the right notes. An overall happy and careless tune, I had a lot of fun deciphering and practicing this piece, especially since I used the score my grandfather used to play from. I guess this is our type of family heirloom :-) Please enjoy!
