For the guitar player that has everything: this very unique, highly customized 2011 Martin 000 has just landed in our shop on consignment. This instrument marries bold looks and a highly complex voice, and is bound to be the jewel in someone’s collection. We’ve never seen another quite like it! The 000 size has approximately the same body volume as an Orchestra Model, but due to its 12 fret to the body construction and the related bridge placement, gets an appreciable boost in low-end presence. This guitar has a soothing, sophisticated sound, with a string spacing probably best suited to a fingerstyle player. The nut width is a full 1 27/32″ and the string spacing at the saddle is a generous 2 3/8″. As you can see from the pictures, this guitar is highly ornamented, with 42-style abalone border on the Amber-bursted Italian spruce top. The back and sides are beautiful, highly figured Hawaiian koa, the kind that is all-too rare these days. The body, neck and peghead are all bound with non-figured koa. The bridge pins are bone with abalone dot inlays, and the side-dots and Martin logo are also abalone. The only sign of playwear is the small finish ding in the lower bout (pictured).
