VLF Pocket Receiver

This video shows the reception of different VLF and longwave stations with a simple homebrew pocket receiver. The receiver works as a superheterodyne type with a common AM if filter (6kHz bandwidth) and an additional very selective 1kHz audio bandpass to eliminate the unwanted signals beside the adjusted Frequency which passed the poor if filter. With this combination it is possible to get a sufficient selection even though a cheap if filter is used. For the use with a short telescopic rod antenna, there is a high impedance preamplifier integrated. I am very sorry about the poor audio/video quality, but there was only an older mobile phone available for recording. I have published the circuit at Renato Romeros fantastic VLF website www.vlf.it as "A very simple vlf pocket receiver" in the reception techniques section.
