It is mostly composed of rearranged demo songs. Lugburz means "dark tower" in black language and is commonly applied to the Barad-dûr tower in The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. Unlike later Summoning albums, which are slower and more atmospheric with stronger keyboards, the sound of Lugburz is more similar to that of traditional black metal and that of the Abigor.
