A song sheet containing the lyrics and chords for this song can be viewed or downloaded from my songbook blog here: This is one of the first songs that John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote together -- possibly as early as 1957. Whilst it might be considered an early attempt at a rock &roll song, I think there&more than a touch of skiffle in there too -- lots of skiffle songs had train themes like this one. The Beatles recorded a version of ‘One After 909’ in 1963, but weren&happy with this rendition at that time. They released a different version in 1969 on their ‘Let It Be’ Album. You can see The Beatles performing it live in the recently released Peter Jackson ‘Get Back’ documentary films. This is the version on which I’ve based my acoustic guitar rendition. The Beatles’ 1963 version was released on the 1995 ‘Anthology 1’ compilation.
